Donna Kuper of Everett, WA., suggests tossing your soap-filled steel wool pads in the freezer to keep them from rusting.
“It only takes a few seconds for the pad to thaw,” she writes. “Or it can be used immediately when submerged in warm water. Freezing the moisture in the pad keeps the pad from rusting.”
I store my soap pads in a large plastic container that nuts came in. If you have had a leak under your sink and had a whole box rust this really works. I also store my dishwasher powder in a plastic gallon jar and use a measuring cup with a handle to dip it to use. It stays fresh and dry.

OK, so I sell appliances for a linvig. On a sales floor, you see alot of finger prints on the stainless. Now the reason, is because everyone is testing the surface for this exact questions answer! In your home, you are alot less apt to put your fingers all over your appliances. Maybe if you have kids around you will find the fridge door marked, but mainly around the handles is where most of them show up. All in all, a good buy, if it matches your decor, but think about the kids. When people are looking and have kiddies running around writing their name in the stainless, I advise against! Good Luck!
