Use white vinegar and save on more expensive cleaning solutions

Looking for an inexpensive chemical-free cleaner? Then look no further than your kitchen cabinets. Marcia Irvin of Post Falls, ID, writes:

“For cleaning I use inexpensive white vinegar. It’s antibacterial, safe around children and pets, and cleans as well as any product on the market. If you need a little boost use a nylon scrubbie with it. The smell fades quickly and is less harsh than most other cleaning products. I put it in a spray bottle and use it everywhere.”

I had no idea that white vinegar is antibacterial?!! I will definitely use this from now on. Too bad I didn’t know this while my kids were small.

Its just to say you learn something everyday! :)

Garbage disposals have a frequent tendency to smell terrible.  To deodorize them, each night right before bedtime, I pour some white vinegar down it and run the disposal.  I’ve never measured the amount of vinegar I used, but I’ve always held the gallon bottle in the air and poured for about 9 or 10 seconds.  And as strong as the vinegar smells down there in the disposal,  I know it would just drift away instead of attacking the vile smell of if I didn’t trap it down there, so I always place a cheap dinner napkin over the disposal for the night.

Vinegar sounds good, but if you want other mhteods, I recommend hot water, and just to be safe clean all portions of the open parts of the copy maker with soap and water, along with a dish towel. If there are regions you can’t quite reach, I don’t imagine they should effect the taste of your coffee but I wouldn’t recommend taking the thing apart (never know if you can get it back together) unless certain parts CAN be removed so that it can be clean.Vinegar might be your best choice for the “inner workings”, maybe some sort of disinfectant bacteria killer, you know the deal. Hope this was helpful.

Adding some baking soda with the vinegar will also sweeten the disposal, the foaming action may startle you if you have not done it before there is no reaction only lots of foam, certainly makes them smell cleaner, Stanley home products has a brush that fits most disposals nicely and helps to clean the inside.
