When her daughters were young, Leslie Emerson of Greensburg, Ind., always looked forward to the candy they collected at Halloween and got from the Easter bunny. They would dump all their candy on the living room floor, sort out a few pieces to give to Mommy and divide the rest into two containers.

“The house rule was that Easter candy had to last until Halloween, and Halloween candy had to last until Easter,” Emerson writes. “No candy comas, and they looked forward to picking out their one piece of candy each day.”
