Thanks goes out to Jo Ann Sichi of Mebane, N.C., who shares this friendly tip for removing that crusty ketchup that somehow always lands on our hot dogs and hamburgers.
“My best friend gave me the greatest hint,” she writes. “Keep the top from your empty ketchup bottle, wash off the ‘goop’ and put it away. The next time the top gets goopy just replace it with the clean one, wash the dirty one and put away. Love it!”

Internet is a source of information and knowledge. But there are so many sites in net which are nothing but gibberish. But when I visit your site – I felt that – in net there are lots of sites (like this) from where I can get lot of information too. And if I say truly – your site is fantastic. I’ve bookmarked your site in my browser; I hope in future days I’ll get more valuable information from your site.
Wouldn’t it just be easier to wash off the current ketchup bottle top than to keep track of an old one?
I HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE OCTOBER 14, RESPONSE, BECAUSE WHEN MY KETCHUP BOTTLE COVER GETS GOOP ON IT, I JUST TAKE IT OFF AND WASH IT. IT ONLY TAKES 1 MINUTE TO DO!
I don’t usually respond to articles but just had to on this one.
You must’ve been scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with this useless tip. Why not just wash off the one you have & while you’re at it, take the dishcloth & wipe off the neck of the bottle. It works great & then you don’t get “goob” on the cap.
