Reader Tip of the Week: Shower (and cash) saving tip

Joan Bell of Palm Bay, Fla., wouldn’t dream of turning off the shower mid-shampoo — and end up in a cold rinse — just to save a few cents. But a little adjustment lets her control the flow and save some dough.

“Problem solved with a not-too-costly 3-inch on/off switch between the pipe and shower head,” she writes. “I can turn it completely off or let a little drizzle . . . And the best news: It comes back on at the set temperature. Not only are we conserving water, our water bill dropped by $8 a month for two people.”

I saw your small article in the October 26-28 2012 issue of USA Weekend about the Shower and cash saving tip. it tells the reader about an add-on device to adjust the rate of water flow, but it fails to mention a brand, model or where to find it. I spent over an hour searching the web with no luck. Please help!

    Thank you!

    Donna

There’s one at Amazon.com that should do the trick. It’s about $10 and has good reviews.
