Reader Tip of the Week: This reader tip makes great scents

We’ve had many readers suggest new ways to make the most of magazine inserts that waft perfumes. This one from Barbara O’Leary of Tucson shows that the samples should not be reserved for your pulse points. “Use the perfume sample sheets that you received in the mail or in magazines under your sink, in waste baskets or anywhere else an odor might take place,” she suggests. “A nice smell everywhere at no expense to you.

    My reader tip:
    I fill a few pint-size to-go containers with water and put them in the freezer to make giant ice cubes. Each morning I thaw out a couple of the giant ice cubes and add them to my kitchen water dispenser. The vision of clean ice cold water in a beautiful dispenser easily available on the kitchen counter encourages everyone in my family to grab a cold glass of water instead of opening the fridge to hunt for juice, soda, etc. This saves money and encourages healthy habits.
